Dr Lewis Langford

Background experience

I have worked in clinical psychology and neuropsychology services since 2016. I have experience working with a range of clinical and mental health conditions across the lifespan, including inpatient, outpatient and community settings. I have a particular interest in neuropsychology and major trauma. My current NHS role involves working within a community stroke and neuro rehabilitation team. I work directly with individuals presenting with a wide range of neurological presentations, but also work systemically with their families and care teams. This includes providing neuropsychological assessment, cognitive rehabilitation and psychological therapy to support with a range of difficulties. I also have prior experience in managing behaviour changes, within inpatient rehabilitation settings. I also provide consultation, training and supervision to trainees and multidisciplinary teams, and have experience with capacity assessments and differential diagnosis.

I focus on person-centred approaches that involves developing a shared formulation to guide any interventions. I incorporate trauma-informed approaches which recognise the importance of the therapeutic relationship. I also integrate other neuropsychological and therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Analytical Therapy (CAT).
